MomentumPlanet.com – OR Odd Job Hat Review – July 7, 2010/

I don’t advocate riding without a helmet – quite the opposite in fact – BUT once off the bike, I think a nice hat is imperative (this might have something to do with a distinct lack of hair on my head). The plaid Odd Job fedora is as tough as it is fun. I am not sure if it is named after the tough guy with the deadly bowler hat in the old James Bond movies or if it is just a name that covers all the ways it can be worn but the name fits – just like the hat. I have worn it through rain, dust storms, gritty urban centres and into bars and parks and on mountain tops. Even after being crushed in my pannier or backpack (not something OR recommends) this hat comes out looking fresh. It is easy to wash and dries in a flash – important for a flashy and funky hat. And it comes with a bottle opener on the crown – important on hot summer days!

Highly recommended for those who like hats.

UtahOutside.com – Outdoor Research Helium Jacket review – July 30, 2010/

Helium. It’s an appropriate name for this rain jacket from Outdoor Research because it’s so light, it feels less substantial than air. But instead of floating away like a helium balloon from a crying child, it compresses down to nothing in a pack or clips to a climbing harness where it goes unnoticed until needed. And when the rain does come down, the Outdoor Research Helium Jacket is a good one to own as it blocks out downpours like a wetsuit while breathing heavier than a bulldog on caffeine.

In short, I love this jacket.
