OutsideOnline.com Review – Gripper Gloves/

OutsideOnline.com reviews the OR Gripper Gloves:

“Q: I need a pair gloves for springtime hiking, biking, cross-country skiing, and maybe even some late-season climbing. What do you recommend?
A:
And don’t forget Outdoor Research’s Gripper Gloves, which are made from Gore Windstopper fleece, a warmer fabric than the material used in the Manzellas. The Grippers come with a synthetic fabric on the palms that makes them ideal for swinging an ice axe (or a wood axe) or poling on skis. They’re one of the finest all-purpose gloves.”

Maxim Magazine reviews the OR Axiom Jacket:
“Hardness isn’t always good. The 13.5 ounce Outdoor Research Axiom Jacket uses Gore-Tex’s new stretchy Active Shell – a fabric that combines the can’t-touch-this protection of a hardshell with the malnourished-ballerina flexibility of a softshell.”

BNQT.com Review – Ambit Glove/

BNQT.com reviews the Ambit Glove:
“We’ve all seen it – someone on the lifts answering their iPhone with their nose, or – worse – their tongue. In some weather conditions, you just don’t want to take your gloves off. The Ambit Glove solves that problem by using new TouchTec leather in the palm. The advantages of TouchTec leather over current materials on the market that allow conductivity for touch-screen devices (metal integrated into the fingers) are many. First, TouchTec leather allows for more natural use, because the leather can be wrapped around the sides of the glove rather than just being located on the tip of the finger. That’s important because people often use the sides of their fingers in operating mobile devices. TouchTec leather is also warmer, since metal conducts heat through the material. In addition, it’s easier on the glass screens of mobile devices. Finally, TouchTec leather allows the use of a lining on the palm, which is not possible with the current metal technology. Beyond TouchTec in the palm, the Amibit is a waterproof glove with 266-gram Enduraloft insulation that uses Ventia Dry construction, along with durable nylon on the back of the hand and a ripstop gauntlet. A soft nose wipe on the thumb, MonoCinch gauntlet closure and removable Idiot Cords are among the details. “

BNQT.com Review – Alibi Pant/

BNQT.com reviews the OR Alibi Pant:
“An ultra-rugged pant for ice climbing and all-around alpine use, the Alibi pant takes its cues from OR’s popular ice/alpine jacket of the same name. Like the jacket, the Alibi Pant fuses a highly water resistant, breathable and warm nylon-face softshell with waterproof laminated and fleece-lined Ventia softshell in the seat to create an exterior layer for the legs that works both during the exertion of the climb and while sitting on belay duty. Beyond breathability and waterproofing mapped specifically into areas where you want those two qualities, the Alibi Pant features an alpine cut, hand and thigh pockets, articulated knees, ankle zippers, scuff guards, grommets for an instep lace and a boot-lace hook.”

BNQT.com Review – Maximus Jacket/

BNQT.com reviews the OR Maximus Jacket:
“Built for alpinists who spend extended time in the most extreme conditions, the Maximus jacket is Outdoor Research’s burliest, most fully featured suit of armor for alpine climbing. Beat this jacket up, and it’ll just come back looking for more abuse … just like an alpine climber. Three-layer Gore-Tex Pro Shell fabric provides ultimate protection from the harshest conditions, while double-sliding hem-to-pit TorsoFlo zippers on either side of the jacket allow practical, easy-to-use ventilation. A fully adjustable, helmet-compatible hood stays out of the way when not in use thanks to a stash tab, and well-thought-out shoulder gusset construction keeps the front of the jacket flat and the hem from lifting while holding on to ice tools overhead. Zippered internal pockets that have media ports provide weather-proof access to tunes for getting through insufferable bivys.”

BNQT.com Review – Backbowl Pants/

BNQT.com reviews the OR Backbowl Pants:
“Part of Outdoor Research’s new ski-specific Sidecountry Line, the Backbowl Jacket and Pant define versatility with feature sets that work exceptionally well in-bounds at the resort as well as on the far side of the backcountry gate. Waterproof/breathable Pertex Shield fabric means bombproof protection from the elements, but when it comes time for a quick boot pack or skin track. On the pants, easy ventilation comes via knee-to-waist zippers on the sides of the pants (and doesn’t interfere with the ability to wear a belt), and there are also inner thigh vents. An integrated beacon pocket with key-clip attachment keep your transceiver both accessible and out of the way. Details include internal mesh gaiters with gripper elastic, reinforced scuff guards, hand pockets and a cargo pocket. Both jacket and pants feature integrated Recco reflectors.”
